Tokyo Olympics - Stevan's Review

18/08/2021

It's been a roller-coaster season for Stevan so far starting with a neck injury that kept him from throwing on the maize and blue singlet for Michigan University in 2021. However, with an impressive victory at the Poland Open in June, his one and only Freestyle tournament in 2021 our 25-year-old Olympian arrived in Tokyo with high hopes. But it wasn't ment to be: A virus right before the event and a brain concussion in his opening bout against local hero Takahashi destroyed Stevan's medal-hopes. During a stay in Belgrade on his way back to Indiana he took his time for a little review:

"I am very thankful to God for gifting me with the opportunity to compete in the Olympic Games, an event that I have dreamed of winning since I was child. I am also thankful for my family, friends, coaches teammates and support. To all of my people in Srbija, I am extremely proud to represent all of you and give my all at the Olympics. It is not the result that I wanted or that was planned, but I ask for you to keep believing and trusting in me. Please be patient, my time will come and I am even more determined to make my dream become reality. Srbija is in my blood."
